Bucyrus

Wayne Fields, of Bucyrus, Ohio died Thursday February 9, 2023 at his home.  Wayne was born March 30, 1938 in Pike County, KY to the late Jasper and Matilda Jane (Dougherty) Fields.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Inge Elfriede (Hensel) Fields of Koenigszelt, Germany.

Wayne is survived by one son, Michael Wayne Fields and wife Cynthia of Bucyrus, one daughter Sharon Fay Howell and her husband Aaron of Bucyrus; one grandson, Jordan Fields and his wife Kaelyn of Macon, GA; as well as nephews in Eastern and Central Kentucky and a brother and sister-in-law, Wilfried and Eveline Escholt of Taunusstein, Germany.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil H. Fields of Phelps, KY and a sister Sadie M. Chapman of John's Creek, KY.

Mr. Fields lived his entire adult life in Crawford County with many trips over the years to visit relatives and to vacation in Kentucky.  Wayne served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the New York Central Railroad, Swan Rubber Company, and retired from the Timken Company after 31 years of service. His favorite leisure activities were fishing, gardening, and hunting.

Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife Inge.  He and Inge made many trips including Hawaii and Alaska.  His opinion was that Hawaii was for the young at heart and Alaska was for the strong at heart.  He always said one of his favorite trips was to Russia.  He found Moscow and St. Petersburg most interesting.

The Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.  At his request there will not be any services or visiting hours.  As per his wishes, he will be cremated and his cremains inurned in the Columbarium beside his beloved wife, Inge.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Crawford County Humane Society through the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
