Wanda Jean Lawhead

Biography:  Wanda Jean Lawhead, 86 formerly of Bucyrus and most recently of Marion passed away on Tuesday Spetember 19, 2017 at Kingston Residence of Marion.  Wanda was born August 29, 1931 in Crawford County to the late Leroy and Beatrice (Hirtz) Rettig.  She was married April 4, 1964 to Elmer Lawhead who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006.  She was also preceded in death by brother Glen Rettig, sisters Maxine Hines and Helen Laipply, and infant sister Clarise.
Wanda is survived by one step granddaughter; 2 step great grandchildren; brother Clarence “Dutch” Rettig, Bucyrus; sisters Joyce Leath, Marion and Janiece Yosick of Mansfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1949 and worked for 12 years at United Telephone Co.  She did volunteer work with children at Lincoln School helping reading as well as being a poll worker for many years.  She was a member of Victory in Truth and enjoyed gospel singing  and picnics with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 12 noon in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. J.C. Church officiating, burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am Saturday.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heartland Hospice.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
