Tammy Darby

July 22, 1960 — December 9, 2022

Oceola, OH

Tammy Jane (Johnson) Darby joined our Lord and past loved ones, at the age of 62, on Friday December 9th, 2022 surrounded by her husband, her children, and her life long friend Carol Sweitzer. Tammy, who was full of life and laughter, is survived by her husband, best friend, and love of 43 years, Jeff Darby as well as her 3 children, Shannon, Jareb, and Jeremy (Bethany) Darby. Tammy was a proud Grandmother as well to her two little babies, Hayden and Wyland Miller.

Born July 22, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Bobby Gene Johnson and Patricia (Conley) Johnson, Tammy was raised along side her surviving older brother Rick (Tina) Johnson of Portsmouth, and younger brother Gene Johnson who preceded her in death.  She is also survived by her mother-in-law Dorothy Hess.

Tammy was raised in Rowan County Kentucky, and a graduate from Rowan County High School, Tammy was a huge wildcat fan and always Kentucky proud.

She spent her professional life being co-owner of Darby Plumbing and Heating, a small business she owned along side her husband. her own small business with her husband. In her later years, she enjoyed being a Walmart associate, saying her favorite part was meeting so many people and staying in touch with so many others. (whom she considered friends.)

She will be remembered for many things, but said to be the most prominent, was her true and pure compassion and generosity towards others. Well known as an amazing home cook, many would gather around her table, be it family, friends, and strangers or even entire football teams. She was quick to give and be sure others wanted and struggled for nothing.  A true angel God has gained.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Dale Sipe officiating, burial will follow in Oceola Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the Bucyrus U.M. Church Food Pantry and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
