Bucyrus

Sandra Joyce Riester, 79, of Bucyrus, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on August 10th, 2023. She was born July 4th, 1944 to Hazel Bayless. Sandy the most loving wife, mother and grandmother is survived by her husband, Norbert Riester; brother, Rodger Redden; sister, Brenda Grigson Jackson; son, Todd Conley; daughter-in-laws, Kelli Conley and Beth Conley; grandchildren, Chris (Alex) Conley, Josh (Christine) Conley, Megan (TJ) Usrey, Kali (Karey Morgan) Lewis, Alison (Jon) Dominguez, Jacob Conley, Hannah Conley, and Sophia Conley as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Cynthia (Don) Hoggatt. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Maurice Conley and son, Gregory Conley.

Sandy spent her formative years in both Concord and Vanceburg, Kentucky, forming a close, loving relationship with her Grandmother Hannah Bayless. She loved to go to the “picture show” in town as long as she and her brother were able to complete their chores. It was in Vanceburg she met her first husband Maurice. The two were married before he was deployed during the Korean War. While he served, Sandy worked in the shoe factory in Portsmouth, Ohio. After Maurice’s return, their first son Michael “Todd” was born, a couple years later followed their second son Gregory Wade. Sandy was a devoted mother who always made sure her children were immaculately dressed. She worked as a healthcare aid at the county home where she made life-long friendships with her co-workers.

Sadly, in mid-life, her husband Maurice passed in the fall of 1986. Though Sandy’s magnetic personality wouldn’t leave her lonely for too many years. Sandy met her second, devoted husband Norbert and the two were married July of 1988. They shared many happy decades together. At which time she attended the Bucyrus Church of God and was able to touch the lives of many children through her years as a highly creative and talkative Sunday School teacher.

A memorial service will be held at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus on August 26th, 2023 at 12:00 noon and the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
