Biography: Rudolph J. Berger, 92 of Bucyrus passed away on Wednesday September 6, 2017 at Altercare of Bucyrus peacefully, with family by his side, following a brief illness. Rudolph was born on February 12, 1925 at the Berger family farm in Cranberry Twp to the late Rudolph Jacob and Clara Ida (Magsig) Berger. Upon graduation from New Washington High School in 1943 Rudy joined the U.S. Army and fought in WWII serving in Germany and France. Upon his discharge he was employed in various positions before beginning his lifetime career with Bucyrus Road Materials.
Rudolph married Leona Mae Geissman on September 6, 1952 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter Barbara (Tim) Huber of Bucyrus; granddaughter Lauren Auck; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; two sister in laws Wilma Podbielniak of Toledo and Joyce Berger of New York; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Kermit, Richard, Robert, Art, and Carl.
Rudolph was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon, elder, and financial secretary.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the St. John’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Joe Platt officiating, burial of his cremains will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 pm.
