Rosalie Kalb, formerly of Chatfield, passed away to meet her Lord on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus, Ohio.
Rosalie was born on November 2, 1936, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late Gordon and Wilma (Shoup) Kalb. On June 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Kalb, who survives. God blessed Rosalie and Kenny with nearly 71½ years of marriage, a beautiful life together filled with love, family, and faith.
In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara (Ron) Geewax; her brother, James Kalb, and his wife, Ruth; Jim’s former wife, Christine; and her brother-in-law, Ben Longwell.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; her sister, Janet Longwell, wife of the late Ben Longwell; and her son, Gary (Lori) Kalb of Sycamore. She was a proud grandmother to Megan (Eric) King and Jeremy (Lindsey) Kalb, both of Tiffin, and a devoted great-grandmother to Wyatt and Chloe King and Aria and Jaxson Kalb. Her family was a tremendous blessing in her life, and she treasured the special memories made with each of them. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rosalie spent her entire life in the Chatfield area, where she attended school and church. It was there that God brought her and Kenny together. Rosalie sat behind Kenny in school for 11 years, and they also attended the same church. Just a couple of weeks before graduation, their friendship blossomed into a romance. Kenny often said that they knew and loved each other, and after a little over a year of dating, they decided to marry. They chose June 5, 1955, the anniversary of Rosalie’s parents, as their wedding date. A few years later, they built a home where they would raise their family and spend the next 64 years together. They then spent the last 7 years of their life together at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus.
Rosalie was the most wonderful mother anyone could ask for. She devoted herself to raising her children at home until they started school, then went on to work at Chatfield School until it burned down. One of her most exciting experiences was keeping statistics for the girls’ basketball team, especially when the Buckeye Central girls made it to the state tournament.
Above all, Rosalie’s greatest joy was her family. Nothing brought Rosalie greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a love for music and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She shared that love by singing in a mixed quartet with Kenny and two dear friends. Her deep faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she cherished the family and friendships God had blessed her with.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Pietist Evangelical Church, with Rev. Larry Bertsch and Rev. Jason DeZurick officiating. Burial will follow at Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice or Pietist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.munzpirnstill.com.
