Robert D. Long

Biography: Robert D. Long, 94 of Bucyrus passed away on Thursday March 31, 2016 at Orchard Park, he had been in failing health for the past 6 years.  Robert was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Bucyrus to the late John P. and Hulda (Green) Long.  He was married April 18, 1943 to Dorothy L. (Keller) Long who preceded him in death on April 17, 2013.  He was also preceded in death by sister-in-law Lois Long and brother-in-law John Farrell.

Robert is survived by children Jean (Rob) Zaebst, Bucyrus; James (Helga) Long, Danville, OH; Joan (Mark) Tieben, Caledonia, OH; Patti (Kevin) Garrett, Bucyrus; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Richard (Carol) Long, Bucyrus; sister –in-law Margaret Farrell, New Washington; brother-in-law Donald (Kathy) Keller of Albuquerque, NM.

Robert graduated from Sulphur Springs H.S. in 1941 and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church.  He farmed all of his life plus driving School Bus and stone truck part-time.  Robert also worked at Timken for over 28 years, retiring in 1984.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bertsch officiating, burial will follow in Lust Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Evangelical Pietist Church or Good Hope Lutheran Church Radio Fund through the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
