Biography: Norma Maye (Ulmer) Burwell, 90 of Sulphur Springs passed away on Monday August 21, 2017 at Carlisle Place. Norma was born January 16, 1927 in Bucyrus to the late Arthur G. and Luella (Markley) Ulmer. At the age of 3 months moved to Sulphur Springs and lived in that area her entire life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four half brothers Robert, Wilbur, James, and Donald Stewart as well as daughter in law Connie Yaussy Burwell.
Norma was married August 3, 1947 to Glen Burwell who survives along with children Kathy Sue (Bill) Halter of Bellville, OH and Doug Burwell of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Trevor (Crista) Burwell and Haley (Christopher) Wolf both of Colorado Springs.
Norma graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1944 and from Bowling Green State University in 1950. She taught 5 years at the Sulphur School and then spent the remainder of her life as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker.
Norma was an active member of the former St. John Lutheran Church, Sulphur Springs and a charter member of the Sulphur Springs Guiding Mother’s Club, O.C.C.L.
Graveside services will be held in Luke Cemetery, Tiro. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Crawford Co. Park District or the organization of the donor’s choice through the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
