Norma L. Fairchild

December 31, 1969 — February 9, 2017

Biography:  Norma L. Fairchild, age 87, went to be with the Lord February 8, 2017. Norma was born to the late William and Caroline (Seiler) Leonberger March 26, 1929. Norma is preceded in death by parents, husband Richard Fairchild; brother, Fred Leonberger; sisters, Bertha Scheffler, Hazel Leuthold, Isabelle Billings, Lolabelle Shellhouse, Velma Dickey, Lucille Assenheimer, and Bernice Carmean.
Norma is survived by son Ronald (Stephanie) Fairchild of Galion; daughters, Debra (Ed) McCleese of Galion, Lou Ann (Mike) Cooper of Bucyrus, and Brenda Fairchild of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Scott, Troy, Joshua, and Chelsea McCleese, Erica and Elena Cooper, Rosco, Chanda, and Brittany Fairchild, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Norma has been a lifelong resident of Crawford County. She graduated Mt Zion High School in 1948. Norma worked part time at Clancy’s and Max Drive in. She went on to be a Houseparent for 13 years with the Crawford County Residential Center. Her commitment earned her Mother of the Year for recognition of her interest and dedication to programs for the developmentally disabled persons of Crawford County in 1980.
Norma was a member of Crestline Church of Christ. She enjoyed camping especially church camp outings. She was also a pianist with the Kirkpatrick Church of Christ for a number of years. In her spare time Norma enjoyed raising flowers and spending time with family any chance she got. She was a very active woman, always getting out and about on the town when the opportunity presented itself.
The family will be receiving friends Friday February 10 from 4PM-7PM at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11AM at the funeral home. Pastor Willard Delaney is officiating services. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Marion Road Church of Christ or Crestline Church of Christ. Moments of Remembrance may be left online at www.munzpirnstill.com
