Nellie June Cundiff

Biography:  Nellie June Cundiff, 95 of Bucyrus passed away on Thursday August 25, 2016 at Pristine Care Center in Willard. Nellie was born June 1, 1921 in Pleasant Grove, OH to the late Edward P. and Nellie (Applegarth) Cundiff.  She was also preceded in death by sisters Phyllis Abel and Marie Pinney as well as one brother Robert Cundiff.  June is survived by brother Edward Cundiff, sisters Nancy Luikart and Sarah Scott as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
June graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1939 and was a member of the National Honor Society.  She worked at Goodyear Aircraft and then Wright Patterson to work on wing assembly for military aircraft.  In the late 1940’s she followed her family to Bucyrus where she began working at General Electric.  June later went to work for the R.A. Jolley Co. and then to the Telegraph Forum for 23 years where she retired as Business Manager.  Upon retirement June found her “Dream Job” as office manager for the Open Shelter in Columbus.  Finally retiring at age 74, she returned to Bucyrus where she resided until earlier this year when she went to Pristine Care Center in Willard.
June was a member of the former First United Methodist Church where she  had sung in the choir and was very active in the Women’s Circles.  She held many local and district offices over the years at the church. Currently she wa a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church. In retirement she spent her Friday’s visiting shut ins and delivering Meals on Wheels.  June was an avid reader and enjoyed Jeopardy on T.V.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the First U.M. Church with Pastor Brad Smith and Pastor Dwayne Castle officiating, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the women of the church. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
