Biography: Mary Jane King, 97 of Bucyrus passed away peacefully on Monday July 16, 2018 at her home. Mary Jane was born in Bucyrus on June 13, 1921 to the late W. Earle and Madge (Helt) Chandler. She was married December 19, 1945 to John T. King who preceded her in death on November 11, 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons Tom King and James King; brothers Walter, Harold, Robert, and John Chandler; as well as sisters Lois Herschler and Betty Zawacki.
Mary Jane is survived by children Thad (Jennifer) King of Port Clinton;; and Laura (Dan) Westrich of Bucyrus; 6 grandchildren; John, Heather, Alex, Dustin, Jared, and Cameron; and 10 great grandchildren.
Before starting a family, Mary Jane worked as the dental assistant to Dr.L.L. Fisher in downtown Bucyrus. In addition, she proudly served Dr. Fisher and the Army during WWII. They were stationed at Borden General Hospital in Oklahoma. It was in Oklahoma where she met her husband John.
Mary Jane graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1939 and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In her younger years she was very active in the church and in the many sports and clubs her busy 4 children were involved in. She loved living in the home she and John built in the country, and spent as much time as she could outside - working in the flower beds and on the lawn. Being with family and friends made her life complete.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Prayer Services will be held at 6:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating, burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
