Biography: Mary Elizabeth Zahara Posey, 95, completed her earthly journey and went home to rejoin her heavenly family on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in Indianapolis, IN
Mary was born in Gary, W.Va. on June 7, 1918 to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Balas) Zahara, Sr. She was married in Hartford CT on January 16, 1943 to Robert W Posey, Sr who preceded her in death on December 26, 1989.
Mary was preceded in death by 2 children, Elaine Marie Posey and Stephanie Mary Posey, grandson Stephen Morris, brothers John Zahara and Alex Zahara and sister Helen Wyss.
Mary is survived by her sister Margaret Lauinger of Ortonville, MI, daughter, Michele Chase (Brian) of Indianapolis and son Robert W Posey, Jr (Becky) of Bucyrus, grandchildren Alexis Chase, Gavin Gould (Crystal), Adam Chase, Shannon Asbury (Zac), Michael Posey, Annie Chase, and Robert W Posey III and 6 great grandchildren.
Mary and Bob founded Posey's Hilltop Inn in Bucyrus in 1947 and the restaurant was continuously operated by the Posey family until 2012. Mary was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Parish.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday June 11, 2012 with Father Frederick Schill as Celebrant with Deacon Jerry Gubernath assisting. Calling will be at 9:30 AM at the church prior to Mass.
Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the PKD Foundation through the Munz-Pirnstill funeral home
