Marjorie Ann {Brooks} Hoffman, “Margie”

Biography:  Marjorie Ann {Brooks} Hoffman, “Margie”, 85 of Bucyrus made her final journey to heaven on Sunday November 26th, 2017. She had recently been ill. Marjorie was born into this world on September 19, 1932 to Arch and Marjorie (Green) Brooks who preceded her in death. She attended and graduated from Athens High School, Athens, Ohio. She worked at G.E. in Bucyrus for a few years prior to marrying the love of her life, William “Bill” Hoffman on Feb. 10, 1953. Bill preceded her in death on July 4, 1997.  She was also preceded in death by siblings  Walter Brooks, Lela Brooks, Merna Swart, Betty Bailey, Sherman Brooks, and Jean Marcum.


Marjorie is survived by her children, the pride and joy of her life; William “Bill” and Deb Hoffman of Nevada, Michael and Judy Hoffman of Bucyrus, Dale and Pam Hoffman of Bucyrus, Brent and Brenda Hoffman of Bucyrus, Gerry and Lisa Hoffman of Nevada, Barbara Hoffman Griffin of Sandusky, and Brian and Rose Hoffman of Bucyrus. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Tolan, Chad, Amanda, Robby, Elizabeth, Natalie, Christopher, Elana, Andrew, Emily, Missi, Matthew, Daniel, Sara, Timothy, Thomas, Zachary, Stephen, Rachel and Kevin who preceded in death. She also enjoyed the great-grandchildren who blessed her life; Camden, Sajan, Eden, Asher, Maggie, Anna, Alexandria, Eli, Priscilla, Eve, Cooper, Millie, Collin, Drayden, Lucas, Kaitelin, Ellie, Garrett, Jerry, Bristol, Leo Keira, and Lyncoln.  She is also survived by siblings; Glen (Virginia) Brooks of New Albany, Ohio, Bess (Joe) Miller of Athens, Ohio, and Donna (Dale) Miller of Bucyrus, Ohio.
Margie was an avid reader and devoted attendee of the Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church. She will be remembered for many things namely her love of children, family, reading, love of birds and her love for God. She enjoyed Sunday walks in the family woods with Bill for many years, family gatherings during the holidays and the famous Ohio shotgun deer season week, coloring, reading and board games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and feeding her birds and squirrels throughout the winters. She could often be found in her younger years in her chair with two or three grandkids gathered round or in her lap listening to her read stacks of stories, singing rhymes and ditties with her grand-kids, babysitting a group of kids, outside working in her yard or garden, or riding to town or church with Bill driving. In her later years, she could be found playing board games, helping feed 4-H calves, reading her Bible or a book with her dog Sweetie or a grand-pup nearby, doing crossword puzzles or chatting on the phone with a friend or relative. She always had an open door and an open ear, great life advice and encouragement, a big smile, a hug or “I love you”. She was not above teasing and aggravating her kids or grand-kids. She was especially well versed in cheating at board games and acted innocent when she did it. The memories and special moments of her life could go on and on. She was an exceptional and rare woman and will be missed and remembered fondly by her many family members, friends, neighbors, and church.
Calling hours will be held at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, Ohio on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held at the Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church, Nevada, Ohio on Thursday at 11:00 am with pastors Steven Malone and Brian Spangler officiating, burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com.
