Biography: Louise Sarah Heynssens DeBacker Powers, 91 of Bucyrus passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Louise was born December 12, 1925 in Flint, MI to the late Louis and Emma (Lippens) Heynssens. The family moved to St. Nicholas, MI when she was 13. There, she met and married Patrick DeBacker on Nov. 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1954.
In 1957 Louise moved to Bucyrus and worked at Swan Rubber for 33 years retiring in 1992. She also worked milking cows at the former Arnold Farms. Louise married Luther Powers Sr. on July 19, 1973 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1999.
Louise is survived by her children Bonnie (Steve) Howard and Dan DeBacker; grandchildren Scot Howard and Caleb DeBacker; great grandchild Calvin Howard; siblings Clara McQuirk, Robert (Joyce) Heynssens, Elaine Caron, Laura (Ben) Solis, and Betty Jarvis; and 4 step children. In addition to her parents and husbands, Louise was preceded in death by her sons Patrick and William DeBacker, granddaughter Heather Howard; brothers Pros and Joseph Heynssens; sisters Alice Bauchamp, Emma Vermote, Margaret Ott, and Mary Heitman; and step daughter Linda Hurst.
Louise kept her mind sharp with word search puzzles and playing UNO with her grandson Caleb. A fiercely independent woman, she was known for her unselfish and caring nature. She also enjoyed the time she spent with step-granddaughter Angela (Dean) Haldeman and their children Cole and Calla.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Pastor Becky King of the Fairhaven Community officiating, burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Fairhaven Community or Hospice of Wyandot County.
