Obituary

Karen Angela (Brown) Wells

Karen Angela Wells, age 69, of Bucyrus, Ohio lovingly known to most as Angie or Gigi, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born September 8, 1956, in Marion, Ohio to Byron Brown and Eileen Coleman.

To know Gigi was to be loved by her. Her kindness, warm heart, and unwavering devotion to those she cared about made her truly one of a kind.

Gigi was the beloved wife of Daniel Wells and proud mother of Chad Bayer, whom she often referred to as “the best son ever.”

Her greatest joy in life was her family and her friends, and she never missed an opportunity to support and celebrate them. Whether attending sporting events, school programs, or family gatherings, Gigi was always there with encouragement, a smile, and one of her famous hugs.

In addition to her devotion to family, Gigi found great purpose in caring for others through her work as a home health caregiver. She took immense pride in looking after her special ladies, forming meaningful bonds with those she cared for and providing comfort, compassion, and friendship that went far beyond her duties.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Wells; her son, Chad Bayer; her mother, Eileen Coleman; and father, Byron Brown; her mother-in-law, Dixie Wells; her sister, Cheryl (Tracy) Rehm; her brother, Evan (Tricia) Ricker; and her cat, Molly

She also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews: Liza (Noah) Blankenship, Brock Kemery, Kelsee (Adam) Enders, Keegan (Kacie) Walter, Kalob Caudill, Owen (Crystal) Gordon, Trishelle Gordon, Katie (Nick) Gholson, Jason (Krista) Wells, Tommy (Stacie) Wells; great-nieces and great-nephews Austin (Courtney) Lutz, Jaden Lutz, Kenton Lutz, Anderson Blankenship, Bailey Blankenship, Cedric (Kennedy) Kemery, Addison Kemery, Brantley Kemery, Liam Rehm, Brody Enders, D’Ceon Morton, Kaiven Caudill, Colton Parrish, Barrett Walter, and Kallen Walter, who all brought her much joy. Gigi was also blessed and adored her great-great-nephews Ledger and Briggs Lutz and Ezekiel Kemery.

Gigi held a special place in her heart for her dear friends, Valerie Kirkpatrick, Connie Welborn, Matt and Leslie Barto, their children and Josh and Lori Lewis and their children, whose friendship meant the world to her.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Barto and Lewis families for the love, support, friendship, and everything they did for Gigi the past two years. We truly can’t thank you enough.

Gigi was preceded in death by her stepfather, Gerald Ricker; her brother, Timothy (Brown) Ricker; her stepfather, Charles Coleman; and father-in-law Richard Wells.

Gigi was known for many things, her endless phone conversations, her warm and heartfelt hugs, and her ability to make everyone feel special. She was a devoted fan of Garth Brooks and faithfully cheered on the Cleveland Browns through every season. She was also known for the delicious dishes she lovingly prepared for family gatherings, her deviled eggs, baked beans, sweet potatoes, dirt pudding, coco wheats, zucchini fritters, and potato soup will be especially missed by those who were fortunate enough to enjoy them. Her laughter, compassion, and genuine love for others touched countless lives.

To say that Gigi was special to many is truly an understatement. Her legacy of love, kindness, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever cherished.

Until we meet again.
