Jerry R. Evans, 82 of Bucyrus passed away on Sunday evening July 23, 2023 at home.  Jerry was born May 30, 1941 in Vanceburg, KY to the late Boyd R. and Eva (Liles) Evans.  On December 29, 1962 he married the love of his life Naomi R. (Chatman) Evans who preceded him in death on May 24, 2008.  He was also preceded in death by brothers Boyd R. Evans Jr. and James Robert Evans as well as sisters Evelyn Moore and Debbie Kegley.

Jerry is survived by children Tammy (Doug) Hansford and Kevin Evans both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Dani (Nick Mindigo) Kissinger, Ashley N. (Nate) Lehner, Stevie (Josh) Reiss, and Ryan (Ky Tighe) Evans; great grandchildren Wyatt, Ina, Zeke, and Eden; brother Don Evans and sisters Betty Applegate and Kay Underwood.  Jerry is also survived by his loyal canine companion “Rav”.

Jerry retired in 2003 from The Timken Company after 33 ½ years.  He graduated from Vanceburg H.S. in 1960 and moved to Bucyrus in 1966.  Jerry was a U.S. Navy Veteran on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Saratoga and enjoyed the outdoors.  He especially liked hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and making maple syrup with his friend Ron Pry.  Jerry enjoyed Native American History and collecting arrowheads and Indian relics.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:30 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Bishop Ted Thomas officiating and burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
