Jerald "Jerry" Lee Cress

Biography: Jerald "Jerry" Lee Cress, 47 of Galion passed away on Tuesday May 26, 2020 at Grant Hospital in Columbus from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Jerry was born September 13, 1972 in North Carolina to the late John Ryan Cress and Debra (Belcher) Cress-Deskins (Ronald Hurst) of Bucyrus. He is also survived by daughter Cassandra L. (Ryan Oswald) Smith, grandson Matthew Oswald and her sister Candace Knecht (Jason) and son Ryder; fiancé' Kimberly Barton and her children Casee Williams, Codi (Charlee) Reeves, who he thought of as adopted children, along with their 6 boys; siblings Angela (Joe Straub) Chandler of Bucyrus; Roni Penwell of Bucyrus; Richard Eric (Ashlynn) Deskins of Lebanon, VA; and Bobby (Nikki) Deskins of Bucyrus; 1 niece, 6 nephews, numerous great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; many biker brothers and sisters, and his German Shepherd Khyra.
Jerry graduated from Bucyrus H.S. in 1990 and studied Mechanical Engineering classes at N.C. State. He was employed at Covert Manufacturing in Galion as a Quality Technician for the past 6 years and prior to that at IB Tech for 12 years. Jerry Bartended at the Horseshoe and Bistro for 15 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and long trips on his motorcycle with friends. Jerry found joy and amusement in teasing and aggravating all those that he loved.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday June 5th at 7:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made through the funeral home for a trust fund set up for Matthew his grandson. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill@hotmail.com
