Biography: Janis I. Dewiel, 78 of Bucyrus passed away on Wednesday July 11, 2018 at Bucyrus Community Hospital of an apparent heart attack, her death was unexpected. Janis was born May 14, 1940 in Bucyrus to the late Melvin C. and Edna L. (Durigg) Grau. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers James and Donald as well as son-in-law Robert Lilly.
Janis is survived by children Leesa Streib of Texas; Mark Dewiel of Bucyrus; and Shanda Lilly of Galion; grandchildren Nichole, Laura, Hayle, Denver, and Devon; great grandchildren Laynae, and Sophia; brother Wayne (Karen) Grau of Bucyrus and sister-in-laws Marcella Grau of Crestline and Beverly Grau of Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Janis worked numerous jobs in Bucyrus and formerly owned and operated Jan’s Beauty Shop. She last worked at Swan Rubber for over 20 years. She graduated from Holmes Liberty H.S.in 1958 and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. Janis enjoyed playing cards and was known for her baking, especially cookies.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Renee Ahern officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
