Biography: Jamie D. Tate “Big Mama” 54 of Mansfield, OH passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at home. Jamie was born March 23, 1964 in Mansfield to the late Willie and Evelyn (Hertz) Holbrook. She was married on July 26, 1998 to Willie Tate who preceded her in death on May 22, 2017. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Deborah Holbrook and Janet Beeney. Jamie is survived by children Marie Holbrook and Anthony Holbrook both of Mansfield; Arielle (Adreian) Davis of Cleveland; step daughter Latacia (Troy) Moore of Mansfield; grandchildren Tariq, Lamaiya, Josiah, Troy, and Darrell; sister Diane Holbrook of Columbus; nephews L.J. Harris, Clarence Holbrook, and Kareem Harris; 3 great nephews and 1 great niece. Jamie was a petite woman with a big heart which is how she obtained the nickname “Big Mama” from her children. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Jamie was a firm believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and shared her faith through the love she gave to others. She was a natural-born caretaker and nurturer. As the heart of her family, Jamie enjoyed feeding her family; she would always have her cabinets and refrigerator filled to the max to feed anyone who stopped by her home. She was a generous woman who enjoyed expressing her love through gift-giving. Jamie was a hardworking woman in and outside of the home. She will be remembered by her beautiful spirit, infectious laugh and smile, fierce attitude, and astonishing strength and dignity. Her family will miss the deep love, immoveable support, and care she showed to them.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday July 7, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:;00 pm in the Hesed Agape Church, 1034 Walcrest Dr., Mansfield with Bishop Sylvester Ginn officiating.
