James Franklin Copper passed May 16, 2026. Jim was born March 13, 1936 in Bucyrus, Ohio to John W. Copper and Helen (Wenninger) Copper.
Jim married Naomi Dummitt, December 13, 1952. They have 3 children. Bob (Pam) Copper, Brian (Christine) Copper and Crystal (Sam) Thomas. His grandchildren are B.Kurt (Kelsey) Copper, Tristan Copper, Jenna (Kenny) Stacklin, Blake (Kaeli Schulte) Thomas and 5 great grandchildren, Beckett, Caleb, Emmy, Avery, Evelyn. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi, son Bob, sisters Marilyn Altvater and Nancy Campion, brother-in-law, Bradley Dummitt and sister-in-laws, Micki Webb and Beverly Metz.
A lifelong resident of Bucyrus, Jim fulfilled his education at Bucyrus High School. Jim believed that providing for his family from his young age was important and he honored that all through his life. He was a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked in the manufacturing sector until 1973 when he went into the trucking business. He purchased his own rig in 1984 so he, Naomi and their dog, “Axel” could go out on the road together. He retired from the road at age 72. He then did volunteer work for the Red Cross transporting blood from various blood drives. Jim considered himself a lucky man because he was a lung cancer survivor of many years. He enjoyed his I-Racing gaming system and has made many friends from all over the world while racing online. In his younger years, he raced stock cars. People will remember Jim as a positive, talkative man that believed laughter was the best medicine. He will deeply missed by his family, friends and the residents at Orchard Park where he resided since 2018.
