James C. "Chet" Monk

Biography: James C. "Chet" Monk, age 80, went to be with the Lord August 31st, 2017. Chet was born to the late James and Edith (Sharp) Monk August 10, 1937 in Nevada Ohio.  Chet has been happily married to Norma Jean (Skaggs) Monk since July 22, 1957. Chet is preceded in death by parents, daughter Stephanie Monk; brothers, Clarence Monk and Dwight Monk; sisters, Martha Monk and Pamela Kegley.
 

Chet is survived by Wife of 60 years, Norma Jean (Skaggs) Monk; son, Tim (Elizabeth) Monk of Bucyrus ;granddaughters daughters, Jessica Ann Brown of Galion and Cassandra Stover of Sycamore; great grandchildren, Todd Lewis Brown III, Brianna Brown, and Trenton Brown; brother, Darrell (Susie) Monk of Bucyrus; sisters, Bertha (Bill) Hosler of Columbus and Mildred (David) McClintock of Bucyrus; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Chet has lived in the Crawford County area his entire life. He worked for 19 years as a custodian of the middle school. He also worked at the Crawford County Conservation League as a caretaker for 19 years. Chet served with the National Guard from 1958-1964. He was also a member of the Church of God in Bucyrus.

 

Family will be receiving friends Thursday from 11-1PM at the Church of God. The service will follow visiting hours at 1PM at the Church of God. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Moments of remembrance may be left online at www.munzpirnstill.com
