James Louis Borer

March 7, 1940 — June 17, 2023

Bucyrus

James Louis Borer, 83 of Bucyrus painted his way to Heaven, his death was unexpected. James was born March 7, 1940 in Fremont to the late John and Clarina (Clouse) Borer. He was married July 23, 1961 to Mary (Weiland) Borer who survives. He was also preceded in death by brothers Herman, Robert, Donald John and Barney Borer as well as sister Eileen Gegorski, Ellen May, And Ellouise Kramb.

James is also survived by son Craig Borer, and Grand-daughter Nicole (Matt) Miller whom Jim and Mary thought of as a daughter, who they helped raise since the age of 2, also great grandchildren Bryson, Braxton, Bristol sister Joan Halm of Gahanna, as well as nieces and nephews.

James graduated from St. Jospeh Catholic High School in Fremont. He retired from Timken, and had worked at Ohio Mutual Insurance Group, Great Scott and for Richard Klink, and drove school bus. Jim enjoyed painting, and he did it on the side. James enjoyed his great grandchildren, he was blessed with three, two boys and one girl. He loved being outside mowing grass, pulling weeds and making sure the house was in tip-top shape. James was the most gifted and talented. He could fix anything and everything, and if he couldn’t fix it, he would put duct tape on it, which he always had some extra duct tape. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed snuggling those precious grand babies. He loved to watch Ohio State football games, he went to his first game several years ago, and was so excited. Back about 10 years ago, every Friday and Saturday night, he and his wife would go line dancing/square dancing. James was the life of a party, he loved to make people laugh, and loved joking around, he sometimes was very ornery. James would do anything for anyone. He was always the first one to help with everything. He was a dedicated father and husband, whom he always made sure they were number #1.

James will be remembered fondly as a wonderful husband, grandfather and great grandfather “grandpa” especially when spending time with his 3 great grandchildren and grand-daughter. He always made a point of attending all his grandchildren and grand-daughter special events, always remembering birthdays with cards, gifts and cake. He loved anything with sugar. He and his grand- daughter Nicole whom he thought of as a daughter had a special bond. He always made sure to say I love you. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 24, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Bucyrus Nazarene Church with Rev. Ray Lasalle officiating and burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
