James Alton Groves "Al"

Biography:  James Alton Groves "Al", age 81, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 30th. Alton was born to the late James H. and Viola (Kirkham) Groves January 8, 1936 in Tennessee. He is preceded in death by parents, wife Opal (Bennett) Groves, brothers, Harlan Groves and Merle Groves.
 

Alton is survived by sons, Ken (Pam) Groves, Terry Groves, and Steve (Sheila) Groves; daughter, Tonya Groves; brother, Fred Groves; sister, Peggy (Russell) Ruth, as well as 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

 

Alton worked with Timken for over 42 years. He enjoyed spending his spare time wood working and visiting with grandchildren. Alton was also very fascinated by American history such as American Indians and the Civil War. Alton also took great pride in his motorcycle and  tending to his garden. In his earlier years he enjoyed being outdoors and playing sports such as baseball and Golf.

Visiting hours are Tuesday 11-1 at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 PM at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.
