James A. Landis

Biography: James A. Landis, 74 of Bucyrus, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday November 19, 2017 at Altercare of Bucyrus. James was born February 16, 1943 in Bucyrus to the late Paul and Lorena (Pontius) Landis. He was married to Cindy (Bicknell) Landis, wife of 49 years, who survives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Harrison, John, and Paul Jr. as well as sister Alice Wilson and beloved Labrador companion “Levi”.

James is also survived by children Joe Landis, Matt (Angie) Landis, and Mark (Shannon) Landis all of Bucyrus; grandchildren Aiden, Breanna, and Matt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

James lived his entire life in Bucyrus and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1961. He retired from the Timken Co. after 25 years. James served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 181. Jim was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and enjoyed golfing, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and reading about history.

The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Wednesday November 22 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Platt officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ or the Am. Heart Association. Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
