Geraldine E. Brewer

December 31, 1969 — February 17, 2018

Biography:  Geraldine E. Brewer, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Altercare of Bucyrus. Geraldine Ellen Clugston was born on November 17, 1934 in Bucyrus to Russell E. Clugston and Syliva I. Spitler. She met and married Vernon Eugene Brewer on June 8, 1957 who preceded her in death on April 14, 2017. They had one beautiful daughter, Pamela Jean Brewer (VanBuren) who preceded her in death on April 9, 2001. Also preceding in death were her brother-in-law, Harold Brewer and sister-in-law, Martha (Neil) Beard.
Geraldine is survived by grandchildren Holly (Chet) Sutter, Richard VanBuren, and Olivia VanBuren: son-ln-law Rick (Kate) VanBuren: three great-grandchildren, Landon, Amira, and Emery Sutter, along with Vernon’s nephews Daryl and Dave (Lynn) Brewer, and sister in law Lois Brewer.
 
 A lifelong resident of the Bucyrus area, Geraldine worked at the Emporium in downtown Bucyrus for many years and prior to that she worked at a local bank, General Electric and Timken. She was a graduate of Mount Zion High School in 1953, in which she was class treasurer. Geraldine and Vernon were members of the Crawford County Kennel Club most of their adult life, having raised and shown Keeshond and Dachshund dogs since 1962. They were very active in the annual Crawford County Dog Show and enjoyed traveling to various dog shows and they produced 35 champions. Geraldine was a skilled dog groomer, bookkeeper and home maker. She was very talented in crafting and enjoyed scrapbooking, painting, sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting and knitting. For several years, she taught young school children in various arts and crafts. Geraldine delighted in cooking large meals, for which her family greatly benefitted. She also loved Bucyrus and would always support various Bucyrus events.


Geraldine loved her family, and holidays were always filled with wonderful home cooking and fellowship. She was a woman of strong conviction and believed in tradition and doing things right. Her friendly disposition resulted in many life-long friends.


Geraldine was a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 21, from 10-11am, at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home in Bucyrus with the funeral service at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood cemetery. The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to Altercare of Bucyrus or Home Care Matters of Galion. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
