Freda E. Loyer

Biography:  Freda E. Loyer, 100 years of age of Chatfield passed away on Sunday May 13, 2018 at the Carlisle Place in Bucyrus.  Freda was born June 27, 1917 in Chatfield Twp., Crawford County to the late Walter F. and Marie Anna “Mary” (Shealy) Lutz.  She was married February 19, 1939 to Arthur Loyer who preceded her in death on December 11, 1992. Freda was also preceded in death by one brother Arthur Lutz.


Freda is survived by daughters Ruth Ann (Bill) Hanes of Chatfield and Myra (Rick) Grove of Newark; grandchildren Ken Hanes, Rick (Amy) Hanes, Randy (Nancy) Hanes, Karen (John VanVleet, and Jim (Lisa) Grove; great grandchildren Taylor (Bryce), Sierra, Caleb, Logan, Eric, Nick, Abby, Lydia, Lauren, and David; sister-in-law Lucille Lutz; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


Freda was a lifelong member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she was a member of the women’s circle of the church, sewing circle, and she also sang in the choir and played the piano.  She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1935. Freda helped her husband run the dairy farm and helped milk cows. She made numerous lap robes and enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, watching the grandchildren’s sporting events, music concerts, and spending time with family.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Pairan officiating, burial will follow in Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Gideons, Kindred Hospice, or the donors choice.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
