Edna Marie Beal, age 91, passed away in the memory care unit of The Wyndmoor of Marion. She was born November 10,1933, in Bucyrus Hospital, the only child of the late William and Naomi "Toots" (Johns) Ruth. She graduated from Chatfield High School, class of 1951, and two years later married John Beal. They shared 59 years of marriage before John's passing in 2012. In addition to her parents and husband, Edna is preceded in death by her children Myrna Beal and Kathleen Cole, and her daughter-in-law Rebecca Beal.
Edna is survived by her children Juanita (Charles) Shuck of Marion, John W. (Barbara) Beal of Caledonia, Philip (Kristen) Beal of Marengo, Randal Beal of Wellington, KY, and Joseph (Elizabeth) Beal of Dayton. Edna was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 4 great-grandsons, 5 step great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-great-grandson.
Edna was a member of the Evangelical Pietist Church of Chatfield. She worked as a teller for Farmers State Bank, took a hiatus to raise her children, then returned to the bank until her retirement in 1998. She was known as a skilled seamstress, pie baker, pianist, and a woman of kindness and common sense. An avid reader, Edna amassed a personal library of over 3,000 books.
A private burial will be held at Lust Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or the Wyndmoor of Marion. Moments of remembrance may be shared online at www.munzpirnstill.com.
