Doris J. McNair

Biography: Doris J. McNair, age 89, passed away at home Dec. 2, 2018 surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Doris was born to the late Clinton and Grace “Atkinson” Metheny in Terra Alta West Virginia, Oct 5, 1929. Doris was married to Charles McNair Sr. who preceded her in death on Aug 25, 2008. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, late husband, son, Charles McNair Jr., sisters, May Dodd, Jessie Simmons, Mary Franklin, and Dessie Nita Hall; brothers, Odbert Metheny, Fred Metheny, George Metheny, Jake Metheny, and Ralph Metheny.


Doris is survived by grandchildren, Lisa (Jody) Waterer, Robin (Milton) Kafoglis, sister, Edna Bryan; niece and nephew, Joan (Glenn) Thomas and Dale (Sharon) Bryan; great grandchildren, Denny McNair, Noah (Kelsey) Waterer, Lucas Waterer, Justin (Samantha) Auck; great-great grandchildren, Landen McNair and Ryleigh Auck


Doris loved work in her yard and kept up on the flower beds. She built and maintained her fish pond. She always fed the wildlife and enjoyed all the dogs. She was an avid reader, was a member of the Friends of the Library in Bucyrus, and a member of Preston County Historical Society in West Virginia. Doris loved being with her family and always spoiled her great great grandson Landen, who could always make her laugh even on the worst of days.


Doris had requested no formal services take place. She will be buried with her husband at Whetstone cemetery. Memorials may be made to Crawford County Humane Society or Home Care Matters.
