Donald E. Stineman, 87 of Bucyrus passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2023 at home following an extended illness. Don was born July 19, 1936 to the late Eldon and Anna (Witter) Stineman. He was married December 20, 1958 to Dixie Lee (Smith) Stineman who survives. In addition to is parents, he was preceded in death by toddler brother David and brother in law Gary M Perrin.
Donald is also survived by son Dirk A. Stineman; granddaughter Tara Lee Stineman and husband Tez Norris; great grandchildren Aden, Avery, August, and Aubrey; and sister Judith E. Perrin.
Don grew up on the family farm East of Holmes Liberty School, where he was active in FFA, band, choir, basketball, and track.
Don worked at Laipply Gulf while still in school and after graduation was employed by Timken and continued farming. He was in the Ohio Army National Guard for six years and completed his basic training as a Platoon Guide at Fort Knox.
Don and Dixie built their home on the family farm and started Stineman Sales with Polaris being the main business along with mowers.
For twenty five years Don and Dixie were weekenders on Catawba Island. He was the President of the Ohio State Snowmobile Association, active member of the Midwest & International Snowmobile Associations. He was initiated into the Iron Dog Brigade, dedicated to the fun of snowmobiling which made traveling across the U.S. and Canada a fun activity.
Don enjoyed the Hit and Miss engines beginning in 1992 making homemade ice cream for the First United Methodist Church during the Bratwurst Festivals. He attended many Antique Tractor shows around Ohio and was a member of several clubs and life member of the Crawford County Farm Machinery Association as well as having an extensive tractor collection of his own.
Don as originally a baptized member of the Concord Methodist Church until it closed and then a member of First United Methodist, now the combined Bucyrus UM, serving as a trustee for many years.
A Private Graveside Service will be held in the Brokensword Cemetery with Rev. Becky Stephens and Rev. Matt Anderson officiating following which the family will gather in son Dirk’s ancestral home.
