Derek J. Riels

Derek J. Riels, 36, of Bucyrus passed away Sunday November 12, 2023 at Grant Hospital from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. Derek was born March 23, 1987 to Roy Duane Staats and Beatrice (Osborne) Riels in Bucyrus Ohio. Derek is preceded in death by his father, Paternal grandpa Tommy Staats and maternal grandparents Gracie Dalton and Steve Osborne.

Derek is survived by his two children Duane Riels, Brady Riels, brothers David Riels, David Staats, sister Aimee Baker, grandma Sandy Staats and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Derek attended Colonel Crawford and Bucyrus High Schools. He was working at A&G Manufacturing in Galion Ohio. You could always find Derek working on cars, motorcycles, and derby cars. He loved to be on his Harley. Derek enjoyed being outdoors, fishing with his boys or around a campfire with his friends. Derek loved his family and was always helping them.

Visiting hours will be Friday November 17, 2023 from 4PM-6PM at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Majors’ Tom and Debbie Grace will officiate the service at 6PM. Family asks memorials be made to his children through his brother David Riels. Moments of remembrance can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com.
