Biography: Charles “Skip” Baker, (73) of rural Bucyrus passed away on Monday February 22, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital, his death was unexpected following a lengthy illness. Charles was born March 3, 1942 in Bucyrus to the late Charles M. and Violet (Rowland) Baker. He was married August 1, 1981 to Carolyn (Agin) Baker who survives. He is also survived by sons James of Delphos, OH; Travis of Marion; and Chuck of Mansfield; daughters Shelly; Jessica “Jess” (Josh) Gebhardt, Bloomville; and Sergeant First Class Patricia (Staff Sergeant Tim) Conner of Alaska; 3 grandchildren; mother in law Erma Agin, Bucyrus; brother in laws Emmett (Linda) Agin, Bucyrus and Ronald (Barb) Agin, Zanesville; sister in law Donna (Doug) Metzger, Bucyrus as well as nieces and nephews and much loved dog and sidekick “Harley”.
Skip worked for the former Northern Ohio and General Telephone Co., which is now Verizon, for 33 years in the Galion, Crestline, and Delaware areas. He lived his entire life in this area and was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Skip was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Robinson, a Life Member of both the Amvets and VFW Post 1078 as well as being a member of American Legion Post 181. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially cutting wood on his Gentleman’s Farm, his Hit and Miss Engines, drives in the country, his family, and “chewing the fat” with the locals at Riverside in Galion.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Jarrod Schaaf officiating and the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
