Charles E. Smith,

Biography:  Charles E. Smith, 84 of Bucyrus passed away on Sunday January 7, 2018 at Altercare of Bucyrus. Charles was born June 2, 1933 in Putnam, Virginia to the late Robert Hubert and Ora Evangeline (Jackson) Smith.  He was married March 14, 1954 to Patricia (Hart) Smith who survives.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by great grandchild Hayden Fuson and brothers Robert, Ron, John, and Jerry.
 

Charles is also survived by daughters Valerie (Jeff) Malone and Bev (Douglas) Fagan both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Mandy Smith, Abigail Hoskins, and Zachary Hoskins; great grandchildren Kamden Spears and Kolten Spears; sisters Joyce Stewart of FL and Janet Finical of NC; as well as nieces and nephews.

 

Charles served as a 1st Class Petty Officer  in the U.S. Navy both in Korea and Vietnam.  He retired from the Navy in 1973 after 20 years.  Charles served on the USS Mitscher and the USS Isle Royal.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling, and country music.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Clay Korner officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com.
