Biography: Catherine Gravely was a homemaker especially known for her famous gravy and biscuits. She was 87yrs old resided in Galion the past 5 years passed away on October 29, 2017 at Signature HealthCARE after many years of Alzheimer’s and a short illness. Catherine was born April 29, 1930 in Floyd County, KY to the late Wade and Minnie (Hall) Spears. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother G.B. Spears; sisters Mary Adkins, Magdeline Farmer, Etta Schnee, and Edna Spears; brother-in-laws Elvie Adkins, Bill Farmer, and Floyd Slauterbeck.
Catherine is survived by her husband Fred whom she married September 1992; children Randolph (Nora) Akers, Grethel, KY; Donna (Guy) Pierce, Rotanda West, FL; Danny (Beth) Akers, Galion, OH; Diana (Billy) Squires, Rotanda West, FL; and Denise (Chad) Conn of Galion, OH; step children Linda (Bob) Bridges, Canton, GA; Yvonne (Robert) Roach, Tacoma, WA; and Sandra Walder of Yakama, WA; 9 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Virgie) Spears, Grethel, KY; Donald (Lois) Spears, Prestonsburg, KY; sisters Ollie Slauterbeck, Sandusky, OH; Dorothy (Sam) Casebolt, Pikeville, KY; brother and sister-in-laws Dale Schnee and Louise Spears.
Catherine enjoyed cooking, making crafts, going to church, spending time with her family and friends, and she especially loved being with her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her brothers, sisters, and their spouses. She enjoyed playing dress up with her sisters, singing and taking trips with them all. Her famous words were “How are you today baby?, What are you making baby?, and Where’s Fred?” She had a way of warming everyone’s hearts.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 1 at Victory Rock Praise & Worship Center, 1700 Fairview Rd., Galion, OH at 1:00pm with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday 6:00pm until 8:00pm and Wednesday 12:00pm until 1:00pm.
