Carol S. Green

Biography:  Carol S. Green, age 83, went to be with the Lord October 20, 2018 surrounded by her family. Carol was born May 22, 1935 to the late Walter and Martha (Dove) Schimpf in Lykens Township, Crawford County. She graduated from Lykens High School as Salutatorian of her class. She decided not to go to college and instead went to work at Farmers State Bank in New Washington Ohio. It was there that she met her husband of 60 years Richard Green. The married January 28, 1956 and they set up a family Dairy Farm in Chatfield Township with her favorite breed of cows, Brown Swiss. Carol had a love of these cows that went back to her childhood.


On their farm Carol and Richard raised their four children, Suzanne Green of Bucyrus Oh, Darcy Green of Fremont Oh, Beth (Jeff) Peace of Dexter Mi, and Albert Green of New Washington. She was a special mother who gave her all for her children.


Besides the Dairy and helping with the farm Carol had a large flower garden that was always a show stopper. She also had a vegetable garden where she raised all the family's vegetables that she lovingly canned and froze. She was also an accomplished seamstress who made a lot of her own clothes as well as those of her children. She was a participant in the Crawford County Senior Fair, where she competed with her flowers, canning, grains, and photography.


She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing in the Messiah in New Washington, Oh. Carol was a person of faith and did daily Bible Study. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church on Ridgeton Road regularly until illness made it impossible. The last years of her life were spent dealing with the ravages of Dementia. It was a long and valiant fight. She met it with her never-ending faith and a resolve that it was something that she had been given to bear, which she did with grace, until she was called to Heaven.


Carol is survived by her children, siblings, John (Wanda) Schimpf, Joe (Joyce) Schimpf, Ruth Schimpf, Mabel Onellion. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard on April 26, 2017, brother, Richard Schimpf, brother-in-laws, Jaime Aros and Charles Onellion.


Visiting hours are 3-6PM at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home Thursday October 25. There will be a service Friday at 11AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ridgeton Road.
