Bonnie L. Byers

December 31, 1969 — July 5, 2017

Biography:  Bonnie L. Byers, 85 of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday July 1, 2017 at Ohio Health Med Central Hospital, Mansfield.  Bonnie was born September 3, 1931 in Licking County to the late Charles H. and Theresa (Jordan) Hoskinson.  She was married May 15, 1949 to Ronald N. Byers Jr. who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1986.  She was also preceded in death by one infant son, son in law David Smith, and 6 sisters.

Bonnie is survived by children Robert (Bobbi) Byers, Mt. Vernon; Jimmy Byers, Bucyrus; and Rhonda Smith of Bucyrus; 7 grandchildren, Kristy (Josh) Wilson, Anissa (Robert) Zornes, David (Stephanie) Smith, Ruth Ann (Chuck) Shepherd, Lynquoia Vaughn, Jimmy Jr. (Stephanie), and Kiara (Michael) Meyers; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.


Bonnie lived most of her life in Bucyrus and began working at Swan Rubber in 1958 where she was the first lady foreman, she retired after 36 years.  Following retirement she worked as a greeter at WalMart and for a short time at Special Packaging.  Bonnie enjoyed bowling, camping, word search puzzles but most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She never met a stranger and her house was always open to everyone.


Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Bernie France officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Contributions can be made through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
