Bonnie Rae Howell

Bonnie Rae “Stamm” Howell, age 90, passed away February 7, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  Bonnie was born July 23, 1933, to the late Claude Henry Stamm and Nellie “Thurman” Stamm.  On August 11, 1956, Bonnie married her first-grade sweetheart, Gene Howell, and they enjoyed 66 years together until his death on March 22, 2023. Along with Gene and her parents she was also proceeded in death by her brother Ellsworth Stamm and her grandson, Samuel W. Howell.  Bonnie is survived by her four sons, Stanlee B. Howell, Aaron K. (Sharon) Howell, Harold R. (Melanie) Howell, and Wesley C. Howell, all of Bucyrus, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

Bonnie received a teaching certificate from Morehead State University, and taught school at Covedale, Kentucky before moving to Ohio and teaching at Sulphur Springs.  In addition to raising her family, she and her husband Gene, built and operated Foxfire Campground for many years.  Bonnie enjoyed bowling, square dancing, sewing, traveling, and watching the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a direct descendant of Colonel William Crawford.  Bonnie was of Christian faith and attended Wayside Chapel.

Visiting hours will be at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Sunday February 11, from 12PM-2PM and again at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg Kentucky, Monday February 12, from 1PM-3PM with the service to follow at 3PM.  Burial will be at Lewis County Memory Gardens in Black Oak, Kentucky. The Family suggests memorials be made to Wayside Chapel, 2341 Kerstetter Rd., Bucyrus Ohio or to Avita Hospice. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.munzpirnstill.com
