Betty J Miller

December 27, 1932 — November 29, 2023

Marion

Betty J. Miller passed away on November 29, 2023 at Kingston Residence of Marion.  Betty was born in Mansfield, Ohio on December 27, 1932 to John H. and Annabelle Comer McKinley Witt. She graduated from Madison High School in 1951.

After graduation, Betty took a trip to California to visit her aunt who introduced her to Robert Miller who she married on February 16, 1952.  Robert and Betty had two children, Cindy (Tom) Schifer of Marion, Ohio and Ron (Lin) Miller of Bucyrus.

Robert and Betty lived in California, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Georgia, and New York during Robert’s career.  After retirement in 1990, they returned to Galion, Ohio to be closer to their children and grandchildren.  Throughout Robert’s career, Betty supported him as he traveled extensively for work, often internationally.   She made friends easily with her great sense of humor and positive attitude, and learned to navigate new cities, making a home for them wherever they landed.

During his career and after retirement, Robert and Betty traveled throughout the work and the United States.  Their travels included trips to China and Japan, Hawaii, Italy, and Great Britain, as well as cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. Robert and Betty shared 68 years of marriage before Robert passed away in May 2020.

Betty very much enjoyed the grandchildren and loved to attend their activities.  She was very proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed sharing them with others. In 2013, their great grand-twins, Sam   and Josie, were born and in 2019 another great granddaughter, Layla, was born.  Betty, “great grammy”, loved hearing about them and having them visit.

Later in life, Betty was blessed to become acquainted with her sister Carol whom she had not known.  They quickly made up for lost time, talked frequently, and met for visits or lunch several times each month.  They both treasured their times together.

Betty was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion.

In addition to her children, Betty is survived by her grandchildren Timothy (Jennifer) Schifer, Stevensville,   Michigan; Daniel Schifer,  Chicago Illinois;  Shelby (Herve) Jobert Moneysmith, Homestead, Florida, Adam Miller and Halsie Miller, Columbus; and great grandchildren, Sam, Josie, and Layla Schifer of   Stevensville, Michigan; Dax and Harper Jobert of Homestead, Florida; sister Carol (Robert) Wise,   Ashland; a beloved cousin Joann Herold Teuscher, Mansfield, and sister-in-law Janice Miller, St. Simons Island, Georgia.  Her son Ronald Howard Miller, grandson Robert F. Schifer, brother-in-law Ronald J. Miller preceded her in death as well as her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Betty’s family would like to express their heart felt appreciation to the Kingston Memory Care team and receptionist staff for their kind and loving care of Betty for the last 3 ½ years.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 AM at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
