Roger E. Smith , 77 yrs. of age, of 6855 Annapolis Dekalb Rd., Tiro died on Saturday Jan. 23, 2010 in Mansfield Med Central, his death was unexpected. Mr. Smith was born August 22, 1932 in Tiro to the late Lester and Minnie (Eckstein) Smith. He was married January 26, 1952 to Rose L. (Brecht) Smith who survives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Copeland and Ruby Schimpf.

Mr. Smith is also survived by children ; Mark E. Smith of Oxford, OH; Mike E. (Connie) Smith of Tiro; Vicki (Tom) Taylor of Marietta, GA; Linda L (Greg) Stegeman of Medina, OH; grandchildren, Cindy Smith, Tiro; Lester E. Smith, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Jennifer (Scott) Kelly, Sidney, OH; Lauren Taylor, Marietta, GA; Brad (Jessica) Stegeman, Uniontown, OH; Samantha Stegeman, Fairborn, OH; Ashley Stegeman, Medina, OH. Brother , Earl (Arlene) Smith, Tiro, OH; and Sisters , Esther Smith, Shelby, OH; Miriam Stoodt, Mansfield, OH; and Glena McCoy, of Shelby, OH.

Mr. Smith lived his entire life in the Tiro area and was a graduate of Tiro High School in 1950. He retired 18 years ago from the Timken Company after 41 years of service and farmed. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, North Auburn. Mr. Smith was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Mothers of Sorrow Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Sandusky Twp Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:45 pm.
