Robert O. "Bob" Meister, 90, of the Carlisle House and formerly of Carrell Road died Wednesday January 13, 2010 at his residence. Born July 30, 1919, he was the son of the late Otto and Hulda (Kurtz) Meister.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 1/2 years Mary (Caris) Meister whom he married on July 28, 1946. He is also survived by three children; daughter Bettie and husband Gene Luidhardt of Bucyrus, son Robert and wife Linda Meister of Galion, daughter Mary Ann and husband Roger "Butch" Rettig of Palmetto, Fla., a grandchild Beth and husband Jamie Leyda of Pickerington, a great grandchild Paige, 5 step grandchildren and a brother Jim and wife Virginia Meister of Bucyrus.

He is preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother John Meister. Bob was a 1938 graduate of Holmes Liberty school and during school he was active in 4H, FFA and earned a state farm degree. He helped his dad and brothers farm until serving in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1944 to 1946. Robert worked at Producers on sale day, helped the extension agent with the 4H clubs and worked for Division 3 State Dept. of Transportation during construction of Interstate 71. In 1964 he ran for County Recorder and served Crawford County til 1983. During that time, in 1975 he was President of the Ohio Recorders Association. In his retirement, he and Mary spent many winters in Florida.

He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #181 and had been a long time member of the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club. Bob enjoyed fishing, card games and restoring antique furniture.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be Monday January 18, 2010 at 1:30pm with Pastors David Bliss and Harold Hasenauer officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the American Legion will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
