Frederick A. Weiland, 66, of Jackson, Ohio died Sunday morning February 21, 2010 in Adena Regional Hospital, Chillicothe from a brief illness.
He was born October 18, 1943 in Galion, Ohio and was the son of the late Walter and Wanda (Swihart) Weiland.
Fred is survived by his wife of 47 years Billie (Sharrock) Weiland whom he married on December 9, 1962. Also surviving is a daughter Tani Eyer and husband Duane of Bucyrus, OH, three grandchildren; Alex and Ashley Mullins both of BGSU, Nicole Eyer of Naples, Fla., several Brother and Sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by two brothers Harry Weiland and wife Susie and Larry Weiland.
Fred attended Colonel Crawford school and worked in construction, Swan and for ten years at GE all in Bucyrus. In addition in 1976 he designed, built and operated the New Winchester golf course until 1982. He and Billie moved to Jackson in 1985 and he was superintendent of the Fairgreens Country Club, Jackson, OH and later at the Cliffside Golf Course, Gallipolis, OH. Fred was a class A golf course superintendent and a member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America. He enjoyed sports, hunting, carpentry, the outdoors and especially his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St. Bucyrus, Ohio, where services will be Thursday February 26, 2010 at 11AM.
